Rent a Bay
The Surfboards Studio is now offering Australia’s first rent a bay program. Our sanding bays include custom surfboard shaping stands, air compressors and extraction fans. Hire is at $30 per hour for the first 3 hours, and $20 every hour after that (maximum of 6 hours). The list of utilities, tools and protocols can be found below.
TOOLS & MATERIALS
Rasps, Planes, Saws, Files, Shavers, Electric Drills and Routers.
Up to 9 different sanding pads [various grits] available.
Layout Square, Rulers, Compass’, Gauges, Protractors, Callipers and fin /plug markers.
Flexpads, Foam Pads, Shapers Block.
Pre Shapes sizes must be ordered 2 weeks before your allotted bay hire date.
BOARD STORAGE
Not everything will be completed in your time frame. Works in progress can be stored for $1 per day.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Bay Hire is best suited to shapers at intermediate, advanced or expert levels of shaping experience and is not suited to novice shapers. If you are at a novice level it is recommended that you up-skill via The Surfboard Studios shaping course or the Make Your Own Board course before attempting to shape your own blank. Our areas are fully supervised, however tuition is not included within the bay hire fee structure. We are not liable for novice shaping errors, which are common in the early stages of surfboard shaping. Our patient staff will however offer additional advise, tuition or a refresh of content for previous students of our course modules.
SHAPING ONLY
Bay hire is primarily for shaping only. Glassing bays can be arranged. Previous experience with glassing must be proved.
