JS Industries Monsta Box HyFi

JS Industries Monsta Box HyFiWe have a size run of the JS Industries Monsta Box HyFi on our racks at Zak Surfboards!!!  Topped up last week, the JS Monsta Box has been one of our best selling shortboards in store since its release.  Initially conceived to combine the best features of two of JS’s best selling models into one board (The Monsta & The Blak Box II) The end result was a new model that  worked for a broader range of surfers and in a much wider range of conditions.

JS Industries Monsta Box HyFi JS Industries Monsta Box Hy-Fi Collage 1This Monsta Box model has less rocker than the Monsta but a touch more curve than the Blak Box II.  The outline is more generous than the Monsta, but not as broad as the Black Box II.  The tail block also sits somewhere in between these two models with a nice hip drawing back into a rounded square tail.  A sweet single to double concave will give you plenty of lift to help you get up and running in quickly.

Advanced surfers will find this board a great choice for smaller, weaker, flat faced waves. The extra paddle power and speed you will get from this model compared to most performance shortboards will keep a smile on your face in more marginal conditions. A board that works well in the mush but can be surfed in decent waves as well – if needed.

Less skilled (or less regular) surfers will probably find this board a great choice as an all rounder.  One of those designs that does an excellent job of combining forgiving and performance elements.

JS Industries Monsta Box HyFi JS Industries Monsta Box Hy-Fi Collage 2The relatively new HYFI construction technology has been developed by JS Industries over the past 2-3 years.  Through a rigorous RND process, JS have come up with a patent pending Hybrid Fiber Diamond EPS construction (or HYFI for short).  It is a multi-layer construction that apparently feels completely unique underfoot – like nothing else out there.  The glassing process that they use essentially creates an exoskeleton that makes this surfboard construction lighter and significantly stronger than ever before, while creating the perfect flex to maximize performance…

2017 JS Psycho Nitro now on our racks

2017 JS Psycho NitroWe have a full size run of the 2017 JS Psycho Nitro now on our racks at Zak Surfboards. This brand new version of the Psycho Nitro model is designed for maximum high performance fun , the perfect craft to keep you excited to surf even in the most mediocre summer conditions.  The 2017 JS Psycho Nitro still features the  full nose with it’s wide point forward of center.  There is a slight vee through the nose and a bit of extra foam under chest  – which gives you more paddle power and more drive off the front foot. This model features a fairly flat but continuous rocker from nose to tail, with a single concave under the front foot running into a double concave through the fins with a hint of vee out of the last section of the tail.

2017 JS Psycho Nitro 2017 JS Psycho Nitro Collage 1The 2017 JS Psycho Nitro has ditched the flyer in favor of a continuous curve in the outline.  This helps the board hold speed through turns, makes it a bit smoother on rail and aids with flow between manoeuvres. The swallow tail gives the Psycho Nitro a lively rail to rail feel and adds a little extra bite and control in steeper sections.

JS Industries Nitro

JS Industries NitroThe JS Industries Nitro is a new 2017 high performance small wave weapon by JS Industries – designed to generate speed with ease in even the weakest conditions and hold speed through flat spots, with a sensitive enough tail to facilitate tight direction changes and rapid acceleration.

JS Industries Nitro JS Nitro Collage 1The JS Industries Nitro combines a full nose and a flatter nose rocker for paddling speed, early wave entry and heaps of speed of the mark. This design utilizes quite deep concaves for heaps of lift and liveliness. The Nitro has a fairly pulled-in tail outline for sensitivity, quick direction changes, extra drive and comfort in the pocket. This shape has really been geared towards a fast, flowing, attacking approach to small to medium waves.

The rails in the Nitro have been kept medium to full to assist flow and to help overcome any rail catches in choppy conditions. JS Has expertly distributed foam though-out this design with extra foam subtly added to ensure this board will glide where others struggle, while foiling it out of unnecessary areas to retain overall performance and sensitivity in the tail.

JS Industries Nitro JS Nitro Collage 2An overall flat rocker, both in the entry and exit, creates instant acceleration to both generate and hold speed in small to average or fun conditions, helping you link together sections and flow from one maneuver into the next.

JS Monsta Box HyFiWe have just got in the brand new JS Monsta Box HyFi at Zak Surfboards!!!  The JS Monsta Box has been one of our best selling shortboards in store since its release.  Initially conceived to combine the best features of two of JS’s best selling models into one board (The Monsta 3 & The Blak Box II) The end result was a new model that  worked for a broader range of surfers and in a much wider range of conditions.

JS HYFI Custom Surfboards

JS HYFI Custom SurfboardsWe have just got in our first batch of JS HYFI Custom Surfboards for a couple of customers – & they look pure fire!!!  Despite the gusty wind today, I managed to grab a couple of quick pics of this custom dimension AIR 17 in the HYFI tech before it raced out the door.

This brand new HYFI technology is a construction method that has been developed by JS Industries over the last 2 years.  It has been available to the general public now for a little while as an option for the Blak Box II, but recently they added selected other models in this construction to their custom program.  Developed through a rigerous RND process, JS have come up with a patent pending Hybrid Fiber Diamond EPS construction (or HYFI for short).  It is a multi-layer construction that apparently feels completely unique underfoot – like nothing else out there.  The glassing process that they use essentially creates an exoskeleton that makes this surfboard construction lighter and significantly stronger than ever before, while creating the perfect flex to maximize performance.

JS HyFi Custom Air 17 Collage JS HYFI Custom Surfboards JS HyFi Custom Air 17 Collage 1

The model pictured is the relatively new AIR 17  that has been developed by Jason Stevenson in collaboration with Julian Wilson to facilitate a progressive approach in everyday waves.

What makes this AIR 17  design quite unique is the larger than usual sweet spot through the central part of the board.  This sweet spot makes this model relatively forgiving to surf, compared to many other performance short boards.  Added thickness under the front foot  coupled with deeper concaves make this board very quick off the mark- providing drive and acceleration right from take off.  The combination of this extra thickness and larger sweet spot helps you hold speed through turns and maintain it throughout the whole wave.  Helping you to flow through maneuvers with ease, and connect the dots from the start to the finish of the wave, even in more marginal conditions.

The rail shape of the Air17 is a somewhat softer, medium to full rails than many performance shortboards. This model also has a somewhat flatter rocker through the middle of the board with more flipped sections in the nose and in the very last bit of the tail to accomodate quick direction changes and release when needed.
Despite being a pro model, the AIR 17 in the right dimensions should work quite well for a number intermediate to advanced surfers in a variety of conditions.

JS Industries HYFI Blak Box II now in storeJS Industries HYFI Blak Box II now in store.  This brand new HYFI technology is a construction method that has been developed by JS Industries over the last 2 years.  Through a rigerous RND process, JS have come up with a patent pending Hybrid Fiber Diamond EPS construction (or HYFI for short).  It is a multi-layer construction that apparently feels completely unique underfoot – like nothing else out there.  The glassing process that they use essentially creates an exoskeleton that makes this surfboard construction lighter and significantly stronger than ever before, while creating the perfect flex to maximize performance.

JS Industries HYFI Blak Box II now in store JS HY-FI Blak Box II Collage 1 by Zak SurfboardsThe first model to be rolled out in this HYFI construction is the JS Blak Box II – the super popular forgiving performance surfboard for average waves.  Initially designed to be surfed in 0-4ft waves and really excel when the conditions were a bit mushy and/or crumbly, this design has been adopted by many as their all round shortboard – particularly in the fuller, fatter, flatter shaped waves we have here in Victoria.

JS Industries HYFI Blak Box II now in store

The Blak Box II has a slight entry rocker and a flat exit rocker through the tail, which helps the board paddle into waves easily & creates drive and speed from the get go. It has medium to full rails, which helps prevent bogging or catching your edge, making sure you can navigate choppy or soft sections with ease and glide through fatter/flatter parts of the wave.

IMG_1475 JS HY-FI Blak Box II Collage 2 by Zak SurfboardsThe Blak Box II has a single concave through the nose running into a double concave starting forward of the fins, which helps direct water under your feet to maintain lift, speed and manoeuvrability as well as making it a bit easier to put and keep this board on rail.

JS HY-FI by Zak SurfboardsThe combination of this HYFI construction with the Blak Box II design should make for a very interesting ride indeed. Already generating the rave reviews, I can’t wait to take one for a spin and see what all the fuss is about.

JS Monsta Box restock

JS Monsta Box restockJS Monsta Box restock – we have just got a restock of key Sizes in the JS Monsta Box with coloured rail sprays!  The Monsta Box is two of JS’s best selling models combined into the one board (The Monsta 3 & The Blak Box II) – creating a model that’ll work for a broader range of surfers and in a wider range of conditions.  This Monsta Box model has less rocker than the Monsta 3 but a touch more curve than the Blak Box II.  The outline is more generous than the Monsta 3 and but not as broad as the Black Box II.  The tail block also sits somewhere in between these two models with a nice hip drawing back into a rounded square tail.  A sweet single to double concave will give you plenty of lift to help you get up and running in quickly.

JS Monsta Bok Restock collage 1Advanced surfers will find this board a great choice for smaller, weaker, flat faced waves.

JS Industries 107 Model now in store

JS Industries 107 Model now in store

The JS Industries 107 Model is now in store at Zak Surfboards. Pegged by the staff and team at JS as their best small wave design to date. The JS Industries 107 Model was named after the production code found on the prototype board- a board conveniently misplaced in Joel Parkinson’s garage for 18+ months after it’s creation.  Joel claims the 107 as his all-time personal favorite in 1-2 feet conditions. This model has now been rolled out for the general public – proving to be a step above other small wave models.

IMG_7688 JS Industries 107 Model collage 1The 107 has a full outline with a wider nose and a straighter hip through the tail. There is a deep single concave under the chest which creates a large sweet spot for both paddling and generating speed off the front foot.  This single concave then runs into a deeper double concave through the fins and finishes with a light vee out of the tail.  This double / vee combo helps keep this wider shape easy to put on rail and reduces catch – making this one easy, forgiving board to ride even in really choppy surface conditions.

This model is designed to gain speed quickly off the mark and maintain it through turns, flow is the key in small waves and this board definitely delivers it by the bucket load.  By all reports, catching waves is a breeze in this board, meaning earlier take offs so you can really make the most out of what each wave offers.

JS Monsta 3 Round Tail aIMG_4025 JS Monsta 3 collage 2The JS Monsta 3 Round Tail features a nice smooth/clean outline with a beautiful high performance rocker throughout, the nose also has a generous amount of of flip in the final 12″ to help with steeper takeoffs in sucky waves.   A tidy but not too gunny round tail coupled with a mid performance rail gives you a combination of hold/control and looseness on the open face that’s hard to top.  Monsta 3 features a single concave bottom that starts up near the nose and runs through into a double concave in front of fins. This bottom design gives the board and excellent maneuverability, lift and speed.
